A Walk To The Old School

Last night we walked down Grand River, past all the little shops, to the park at the old school. The children played. The maples in the park and down Putnam Road were half bright red. A dad played basketball with his child until the sun went down.

One of my prayers this year is that the Lord would give me contentment. As I walked, I felt a deep contentment settle over my heart. I have tried to coax myself into feeling it without success, but as I walked last night, it snuck up on me. Things I usually don't notice sprang to life. The buildings were more colorful, the trees more brilliant, the smell of autumn leaves sweeter.

That walk will remain as a photograph in my mind, something I will remember when I am old.

As I reflect nothing in my life changed. The things that sprang to life are always there. They are mine to enjoy everyday. The beautiful evening just made me more aware of them.

While I walked, the Lord used the weather to show me what He has already given, and that it is plenty.

Bless you,
Pastor.
