What Will The Memory Be?

A couple of weeks ago, I was looking through a stack of pictures. They were all people doing church activities.

I saw Ed probably in his late 20’s. He looked a lot like Ed, just younger. There were many more. I saw one picture I liked of Nancy; she had a bandana tied back to keep her hair in place.

It made me smile to see the folks who are still here.

There were many more folks, though, who are no longer here. Some of them were unknown to anyone, just a familiar face. There were others. Sunday School teachers who brought a smile and a story about something funny they did. Others brought a sigh and a negative story.

Someday, none of us will be here anymore. We will just be a memory in a dusty old box behind the baptistry. When the children, who are young and will be old, begin to dig through those boxes, what will the memory be?

I wonder.

Bless you,
Pastor.
