Waffles And The Kingdom Of God.

Children don’t always behave, and in my experience, as well as others, children who always behave are abused or neglected.

The other day, we were at a hotel and went downstairs for breakfast. It’s always a chaotic experience, and I feel self-conscious.  Gunnison wanted a waffle, but there was a man already making one. Gunnison didn’t notice him and walked to the machine. Excuse me I said. The man waved me off. He got a plate and got the waffle. He handed it to my son. Here ya go, bud, I’ll make another.

Routt wanted a waffle too. He stood behind the man, waiting for his turn. The man removed that waffle and handed it to Routt. The man looked up to me. Do you want one too? No, I said, but thanks for helping me. He patted my shoulder, just keep going, buddy.

When Jesus was teaching, children approached him. The adults assumed this was an interruption. Jesus waved off the adults and said let them. He said the kingdom of God belongs to children.

My children think I have the strength to overcome any problem and the knowledge to answer any question. They depend on me for everything.
That's how God wants you to feel about him. Unlike me, he is able.

Tim Keller said, “The only person who dares wake up a king at 3:00 AM for a glass of water is a child. We have that kind of access"

Maybe you feel a little scared to approach God, like you should know it all by now, or that you should be strong enough on your own, or maybe you are embarrassed to take up space.

Jesus says, Unless you look to me to protect you. Unless you look to me for the answers. Unless you come to me like a child, you don’t know anything about the kingdom.

Bless you.

Pastor.
